::Apartment Andrei is the nicest apartment I have stayed in--ever. It is a beautiful light-filled space just off the beaten track ( though wonderfully convenient to anywhere in the city) in a beautiful square , Bakats ter, which abuts a great restaurant street, Raday utca. The apartment is lovingly furnished and contains just about anything one might need (e.g., guide books, a spa bag, lots of dvds, a computer, etc.). The kitchen is well stocked. The living/dining room is spacious. The bed in the bedroom is one of the most comfortable ever. The apartment is scrupulously maintained. Making it all even better is the host-owner, John Farago, who is always responsive and filled with great advice for visitors. We come to Budapest annually and always want to stay here. An absolutely A+ choice.

::I don't think we have ever felt so at home in an apartment as we felt at Apartment Andrei, from the moment we arrived until departure seven days later. We stayed for new years eve with five of us, one couple in the bedroom and three on the fold out sofa's (most comfortable I have ever slept on) in the living room, which was absolutely fine. The living room is much bigger, due to the high ceilings, than it appears in the photos. Besides these features it is the homeliness of the apartment which make it fantastic, the paintings, furniture, traditional biscuits bread and wine and a stocked fridge on arrival, excellent coffee machine and various other amenities create an incredible atmosphere. Outside is a gorgeous church and small little square, shops and cafes are nearby as well as the river, which you never get tired of walking along. When walking, it probably takes about 20-30 minutes into the town center, depending on where you'd like to go, but the tram stops just outside. Communications between the owner and ourselves was seamless and a short welcome phone call added to the experience. I would highly recommend this apartment and would happily stay here again!

::Exhausted after flying overnight from New York (with a 4-hour layover in Frankfurt), we felt instantly rejuvenated when we walked into the Andrei apartment. I hadn't been sure what to expect, since we usually stay in hotels, and I was delighted by this charming second-floor apartment with its high ceilings, and french doors opening out onto a small veranda overlooking a charming old church in the square (Bakats Ter). And when it came to the practical stuff, Andrei did not disappoint. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen fully stocked (with an easy-to-use espresso maker), and towels and blankets plentiful. John Farago, from whom we rented the apartment, made our stay so easy. We were in Budapest for a whirlwind long weekend to celebrate a wedding, with lots of parties, meals out, etc. We were totally new to the city and really had no time to get our bearings. But John hooked us up with a taxi driver who was always easy to reach, and always punctual -- and that really allayed our anxiety about getting around, which made our experience in Budapest that much more fun and rich. And if we ever had any questions or concerns about the apartment or the city, John was always easy to reach. Staying in Andrei turned a family milestone into an amazing experience that our family will always treasure. I cannot recommend it enough. One caveat: If you like to sleep in on Sunday morning, bring earplugs. The church bells start chiming -- loudly -- at 9:30am on Sundays!

::My friend and I stayed at Apartment Andrei for 4 nights after completing a 12 day tour of Eastern Europe. It was a welcome respite from a spate of hotels, and offered many amenities, including a bottle of wine and eggs, cheese, salami and pastries in the frig. John and Jeanne provided reams of helpful info regarding the neighborhood and how to navigate the city. The use of a US line on their telephone system, and the computer, helped us re-establish connections with folks back home and share our experiences in city with them. If you are going to be in Budapest for several days, you need to check on the availability of this place. I would go back in a heartbeat.

::We loved Apt Andrei so much the first time we visited Budapest in 2010 that we rented it again when we visited in Oct 2012. It is even better than described and exceeds expectations. Well thought out touches like an LL Bean tote with towels to take to the public baths, and comprehensive info provided by Jeanne and John about what to see, where to eat, where to buy the best pastry, and where the hidden gems can be found add to the appeal of this ideal apartment. It is well kitted out, and furnished with style. The neighbourhood is interesting, has great restaurants, and easy access to the underground and trams. If we travel again to Budapest, we will rent Andrei, and I have recommended Johns website to friends travelling to Budapest as really the only place they need to look for great urban accommodation.
